Position Summary The Manager Investment Accounting maintains accounting records for the investment accounts of the University through the review of account statements or other sources of valuation, recording of accounting entries, reconciliation of finance system balances, and maintenance of finance system processes which post to the investment accounts. The Manager Investment Accounting maintains the endowment
module for tracking and reporting all University endowments that hold shares of the pooled investments which comprise the Consolidated Endowment Fund. The Manager Investment Accounting contributes to all matters of financial reporting along with other members of the Controller's Office staff.
The Investment Accountant prepares detailed workpapers for the annual audit and financial statements. Essential Functions In addition to following the University of Denver's policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Records and reconciles activity to the Consolidated Endowment Fund and other various investment accounts. Records endowment buy-ins/buy-outs,
transfers and other accounting entries. Processes quarterly endowment spending distributions Prepares endowment and investment reports for Executive Management and the University's Board of Trustees Assists in the preparation of the University's financial statements and notes.
Assists in the preparation of Board of Trustee reports, including reports for the University's Finance & Budget and Audit Committees Completes and submits annual NACUBO-TIAA Study of University Endowments survey and various investment and endowment surveys as needed. Prepares endowment and investment financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation for annual audit report.
Answers questions and provides support to university auditors regarding investment and endowment activity. Answers questions and provides support to university outsourced investment office and other external investment managers and partners. Reconciles non-cash gift and Manager accounts, endowment cash, real estate and trusts. Records and reconciles pledges and regular and testamentary binding bequests. Monitors and reports short-term investment activity. Monitors and reports income from mineral rights, oil leases and other miscellaneous sources and evaluates buy/sell options. Prepares Strategic Model inputs related to gifts, endowment and investments and prepares Strategic Model reports including pro-forma financial statements and financial metrics.
Management duties include participating in interviews, selecting and training employees, directing work, monitoring production, and controlling the flow and distribution of responsibilities and duties. Essential Functions Communications Create print and digital event invitations, program collateral, and other event materials for three signature University-wide events and six scholarship events throughout the year. Serve as the key project manager on all stewardship reporting plans, providing content, gathering materials, and coordinating with partners across campus. Responsible for the development of stewardship communications such as acknowledgement letters, scholarship stewardship communications, donor impact statements, and fund reporting materials.
