Position Overview: As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operations with Cochise Animal Hospital.
By adding value to an efficient organization dedicated to quality care and extraordinary service, you will be assisting in multiple procedures including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, euthanasias as well as client education, marketing, and inventory maintenance. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in determining animal requirements by helping conduct animal examinations, restraining patients, and reviewing care plans and records Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering vaccines, providing wound care management, completing laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging Assembling required supplies and instruments for procedures Perform anesthesia monitoring in surgical and sedation procedures including dentistry Fill prescriptions and administer PO, SQ, IM, IV medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs
Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updates database in an accurate and timely manner Ability to demonstrate and follow procedures in catheter placement and phlebotomy Qualifications and Skills: 1 year of veterinary experience and anesthesia monitoring is required Proficient with conducting dental procedures Experience with Ezy Vet software is a plus High School Diploma/GED Knowledge of medical drugs and calculations Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors Available Schedule: We offer 10 hour shifts, 4 days a week Cochise Animal Hospital is open: M-W 7am-8pm Thu-Fri 7am-6pm Saturdays 8am-6pm Starting January 7, 2024 we will be open on Sundays from 8am-6pm Benefits We Offer: Competitive compensation commensurate with experience ($20.00 - $25.00 per hour) Health, dental, and vision insurance 401k + company match Paid time off Continuing education opportunities Professional development support Mental health assistance Employee discounts on veterinary services Scrub allowance Positive and inclusive work environment!

It's important that SVP Veterinarians treat each pet and client like part of the family. Description Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform physical
examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet's problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products. Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient. Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings.
Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
