Summary of the role: We are currently looking for a Supervisor, Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) who will lead and manage all activities to ensure that the design, mapping and analyses of electric distribution assets using geospatial and other computer based systems are performed to meet the needs of all company requirements.
This position will also lead the effort to identify, develop and implement new technologies to design, map and perform analysis of the company's distribution assets. Overview of the role: Lead and manage the activities of the Geospatial Systems and Computer Aided
Design Services department to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the GIS data, including connectivity, ownership, and attribute values.
Be responsible to ensure that all system data is accurately maintained. Provide leadership, be responsible for department performance and manage all work management activities to ensure that all work is scheduled and assigned to company and contractors to meet established schedules and cost targets. Provide leadership to the department and establish department objectives that support corporate business goals. Utilize quantitative analyses and reports evaluate to work performance, work costs, asset utilization and budgets.
Provide the vision to continually anticipate and adjust to the changing business environment. Evaluate employee performance and develop employees' capabilities to efficiently and effectively meet workload requirements in the most professional and qualitative manner. Provide supervision and leadership for complex projects, utilizing GIS staff, other departmental or interdepartmental staff as needed. Coordinate, prioritize, and approve the work of project team members. Lead the development, implementation and oversee the maintenance of the Geospatial System and computer aided design system. Collaborate with Lockheed Martin in the development of new information systems and the upgrade, enhancement or expansion of information systems for the department.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. Must have a minimum of seven years' experience of supervisory activities including hiring, scheduling, evaluating, training, counseling, and dismissal. Must have experience developing and controlling budgets and contracts. Must have five to seven years of direct knowledge and experience working with Auto CAD and Arc FM.
Arc FM experience must be related to electric utility industry, specifically with network and data modeling of distribution systems. Professional Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate ability to collaborate in the implementation of operational initiatives. Demonstrated ability to function independently as a department supervisor, as well as participate as a team member to collaborate in problem solving. Demonstrated ability to carry-out company policies and procedures, and regulatory policy and work applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate in the development and implementation of work related projects. Demonstrated ability to manage geospatial and computer aided design systems, as well as other database structured information systems. Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing business needs by realigning priorities and resources. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others, ability to develop and motivate a team and ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated ability to think ahead and plan. Ability to manage employees' work, conduct performance reviews, develop goals and objectives and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Apply analytical methodology to problem solving and decision making and relate theoretical and/or technical concepts to practical application. Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and information through written and oral communication. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage the time. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Access. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information. Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate user needs.
