Position Responsibilities: This position supports the Southeast regional Energy sales and production branches & Chubb Commercial Insurance underwriting goals related to profit, customer service, and producer relationships.
This underwriter would be responsible for underwriting an assigned book of up to $8.5M in premium and retaining those accounts with retention levels above 90%. The role would service the five branches in the Chubb Southeast region- Atlanta, Birmingham, Charlotte,
Nashville, and Tampa. Agency marketing and travel committments would involve approximately 10% of the position responsibilities and may involve travel to any of U.
S. states where our customers reside. New Business generation is not an essential part of this role and it is primarily an inside underwriting function ; however, there will be responsibility for cross sell and account rounding with other Chubb units. Middle Market Commercial Energy writes companies with revenues up to $1B, including both guaranteed cost and some loss sensitive program structures. This underwriter will be charged with directly underwriting and growing a book consisting mainly of general middle market business,
including but not limited companies involved in the Mining, Oil & Gas, Traditional Power Generation, and Renewable Power Generation spaces.
The candidate will work closely with the respective the Energy Manager, Energy Team Leaders, Industry Practice Leaders, Territory Underwriting Managers and Home Office line of business leaders to position this portfolio within Commercial Insurance for growth and profit. This position will report directly to the Regional Energy Core Leader. The underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating renewal accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. The underwriter will manage a book of business based on established criteria and would be expected to handle a renewal book of business of approximately $8.5M in premium.
The underwriter will be responsible for developing strong relationships with independent agents and brokers in order to successfully manage our business. The candidate must be able to work effectively and collaborate with a team of renewal & new business underwriters, streamline and endorsement underwriters, claims and loss control personnel as needed. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
