Position Overview: We're hiring a System Administrator - Senior to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM at Scott Air Force Base located near O'Fallon, IL. This position is critical to support the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate. The successful candidate will provide system
administration experience to maintain, configure, and reliably operate network servers, server virtualization systems, laptops, desktops, VDI, and supporting software/hardware.
Location: On-site at Scott Air Force Base Pay & Benefits: $37-46/hr Full Benefits package! - Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K Educational / professional development reimbursement options Relocation assistance options Position Responsibilities: Responsible to maintain, configure, and reliably operate network servers, server virtualization systems, laptops, desktops, VDI, and supporting software/hardware. Perform server administration tasks to include user/group administration, security permissions, group policies,
print services, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
Build, test, and maintain new servers as needed. Perform application administration tasks to include evaluating, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting operating systems and other software applications. Perform patch management activites to maintain security and upgrade software to newer versions as needed. Monitor server and datacenter performance using a variety of enterprise monitoring tools, review anomalies, resource/capacity utilization, database performance, bulletins, event logs, and alerts as they may apply to the enterprise server infrastructure.
Install and maintain the system monitoring, analysis, and reporting tools. Create troubleshooting and maintenance procedures. Interact with government service owners, network technicians, customers, service desk, etc. to resolve issues or meet new requirements. Implement, manage, and monitor security controls using industry best practices, and DOD policy and standards. Conduct and participate in network security audits. Coordinate and implement a routine server maintenance plan. Develop and implement server backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies. Respond to internal/external requests regarding IT systems/services expansion.
Maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation of the enterprise server infrastructure. Keep track of the inventory and location of systems. Develop and maintain a Capacity Management Plan. Ensure availability of 24/7 systems support both on-site during normal work hours and on-call during off-hours. Requirements Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study Minimum of ten (10) years of experience Must have at least one of these IAT Level II certifications: Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, Cy SA+ , GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP Must have at least one Computing Environment (CE) certification or certificate for the technical area of responsibility for Network support/defense (e.
g. Splunk, Cisco, Mc Afee, etc. ) OR Operating System (e. g. Microsoft, Linux, Solaris, etc. ) Expertise in Windows 10 and 11 client infrastructure and Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Knowledgeable of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and Unix commands Understanding of Tanium, Cisco ISE, HBSS, and Trellex security systems Heavy expertise in troubleshooting - ideally having background in service desk and knowledge of BMC Remedy Clear understanding of network methodology concepts Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in relevant field of study ITIL Foundations (v3 or higher) certification Project Management Professional (PMP) or Google Project Management certification One of the IAM Level II certifications: CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO, HCISPP Experience in using SPLUNK and or Wire Shark Security Qualifications: Active Secret security clearance issued by the Department of Defense Position is only open to U.
