role will work in step with System Automation Engineers, Dev Ops, System and Database Administrators, and other stakeholders to drive automation and improve system reliability taking an Infrastructure to Code approach. Role & Responsibilities: Ensure system reliability and uptime, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and maintain data integrity.
Implement monitoring tools and practices to ensure early detection and rapid response to system anomalies. Document procedures and update standards for new or modified systems and environments. Prepare for disaster recovery and ensure that appropriate backups are completed/tested, and test plans documented and reviewed
for accurate content. Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement preventive measures. Consult and coordinate with various internal departments, providers, and business entities as a representative of the areas of responsibility.
Performs product evaluation, installation, and upgrade efforts. Explains/trains as Subject Matter Expert on technical concepts of product environments, backup and recovery software/hardware systems, data protection and related utilities. Reviews current and emerging IT trends and provides technology roadmaps. Participate as a member of a small team that works cooperatively to ensure system infrastructure and operating systems are available
to support applications. Follow Change Management policy and Incident resolution timelines.
Open required Change Requests and Work Tickets. Respond to Change Requests, Work and Incident tickets assigned to team. Gather, evaluate, and analyze data on performance/capacity and report on key measurements. Design solutions to technical problems and implementation of new systems or infrastructure changes. Troubleshoot software and hardware failures. Open necessary calls with vendors for support, prioritize and escalate. Demonstrate Proof of Concepts with new software and hardware solutions. Establish and maintain security and integrity controls. Respond to systems alerts and be part of rotation of after-hours on-call production support.
Works well with other IT teams and knows their responsibilities. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field A minimum of 3 years of IT Operations or IT related background Experience with Site Reliability Engineering - monitoring, logging, and alerting. Experience with Backup, Recovery, Data Protection Dell Avamar, Veaam Proficient in scripting to create, modify, execute, and automate scripts to perform needed system functions.
Experience in these or similar tools - Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python, Java, Puppet Experience with Development tools Dev Ops, Git, Jira Cloud Engineering Experience with IAAS environments Azure, AWS Familiarity with Linux and Windows Operating Systems Familiarity with Containerization Technologies Docker, Kubernetes Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and be proactive. Will need to prioritize tasks, communicate requirements and blockers, and take on tasks as they arise. Works under minimal supervision, relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
