Duties/Job Responsibilities: Sr. Systems Administrator: The Sr. Systems Administrator will work on highly complex physical and cloud linux systems. This position will also assist with our enterprise application, database, web servers, and associated cloud services. The selected candidate will work with the HPC team leadership to help build and maintain high performance computing solutions in our datacenters and in the cloud. The candidate will work with researchers to understand how HPC can enable and reshape their work.
The candidate will also zealously pursue fast and collaborative solutions to requests, partnering with both faculty and local computing support providers throughout the school. The systems that our group manages often represent investments in excess $500k of grant funding for very high-profile projects. Work related tasks include: performing linux systems deployments & programming; managing HPC job scheduling; performing software installs; reviewing and managing systems monitoring; performing systems maintenance; performing software installations; managing backups; coordinating hardware repairs; coordinating ordering & installation of parts and equipment; recommending and tracking changes to software & hardware; automating systems tasks and deployments; performing technical consulting & end user linux support; supporting web services; responding to and assisting first-tier support staff who assist end-users with our systems; maintaining expert level knowledge of HPC technologies; and proposing improvements to existing services.
This position also participates in the LIS on-call rotation.
