Physical Demands/Working Conditions: 1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. 2. This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment. This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment to instruct or assist students.
3. VISUAL ACUITY: This position requires the person to judge, observe and backss the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. 4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position’s essential functions are performed both indoors and outdoors. This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to hazards such as but not limited to: close proximity to moving mechanical parts and/or electrical current; exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, and/or oils.
This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases. ) Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement): An adjunct faculty member is primarily responsible for supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses that the adjunct faculty member and the dean/director agree will be taught. Quality instruction includes clear course objectives, prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning materials, fair and understandable grading practices (credit classes only), timely responses to students, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
Teach both lecture and laboratory sections in one or more of the following: Anatomy and Physiology; General Biology; Human Physiology; Microbiology; Nutrition; Zoology. In addition to the primary responsibility for supporting student learning, an adjunct faculty member is expected to: Participate in the backssment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators.
Attend meetings as required. Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline. Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments. Support the College’s vision, mission, goals, and priorities. Office Hours/Student Consultation: Adjunct faculty with face-to-face teaching assignments must be available for face-to-face office hours/student consultation at or near the location where the course is taught provided suitable space is available. Adjunct faculty with online teaching assignments must be available online for office hours/student consultation for those courses.
