As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in backssing and underwriting various lines of commercial insurance policies (Commercial Auto heavy), with a primary focus on serving clients in the construction sector.

What You'll Do Within compliance of the program guidelines profitably underwrite and grow an assigned book of new commercial business including both property and casualty lines of coverage. Analyze loss history, claims data, and other relevant information to make informed underwriting decisions and develop appropriate coverage terms and conditions. Maintain an established loss ratio objective and meet assigned production goals. Efficiently prepare comprehensive underwriting referrals to Staff Underwriting and/or Carrier partner. Work with Program Manager to achieve new business production goals. Participate in marketing events to promote the NIP brand within selected niche industries. Operate with the highest level of accuracy in alignment established workflows and offer suggestions on potential efficiency improvements. What We're Looking For Education Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience. Successful completion of technical insurance coursework toward such designations as CPCU, ARM and AU is preferred. Experience 5+ years of multiline commercial underwriting experience with focus on construction accounts.
MGA experience highly desirable. Familiarity with multiple rating and issuance systems. Competencies Results and goal driven mentality with strong problem-solving abilities. Exceptional customer service orientation with the ability to create and strengthen internal and external relationships. Ability to efficiently analyze large fleets and large driver schedules. Familiar with auto composite rating and DOT filing requirements. Ability to negotiate new business terms and conditions based on underwriting guidelines.
