Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the Director provides guidance to students, faculty, and staff on best practices in safety and security in the context of dynamic global settings. Coordinating with entities across campus to develop and implement international risk management
and mitigation policies for stakeholders, providing resources and support to all international travellers on Dartmouth-affiliated business. Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp: Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: At least six years’ experience in international risk management, preferably in higher education.
Demonstrated commitment to advancing best practices in health, safety, and security for large, complex organizations. Experience living, working, and/or studying abroad. Demonstrated multicultural competence. A track record of fostering diverse and inclusive teams. Excellent communication
skills. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Working experience abroad (e. g. Foreign Service, NGO). Working proficiency in a foreign language. Higher Ed experience strongly preferred. Collaborates with International SOS, as necessary, to coordinate emergency response efforts and resources. Collaborates with the Office of Communications to develop and implement communication strategies for responding to international emergencies. Assists senior leadership with debriefing protocols to evaluate and learn from emergency situations and improve future response efforts. Percentage Of Time: 25 Description: Travel Safety Working Group Chairs the Travel Safety Working Group, responsible for reviewing existing policies related to international travel and backssing any proposed policy changes.
Percentage Of Time: 10 Description: International Site Inspections Conducts international site inspections to backss safety and security. Reviews security reports and relevant data for potential sites. Determines the safety and security suitability of locations for future Dartmouth collaboration and initiatives. Percentage Of Time: 10 Description: Insurance Contracts Maintenance & Negotiations Assists the Office of Risk and Internal Controls in maintaining and managing insurance contracts related to international travel. Participates in the negotiation of insurance contracts related to international travel and travel assistance.
Collaborates with the Office of Risk and Internal Controls to ensure that insurance coverage adequately addresses the needs of international travelers. Monitors insurance policies to ensure compliance and updates as needed to reflect changing travel requirements and regulations. Coordinates with entities across campus that oversee international research security. Percentage Of Time: 5 --: Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others. --: Performs other duties as assigned.
